Willig, Williams & Davidson Partner Irwin Aronson Speaks about Gov. Corbett's Budget Message on The Rick Smith ShowFebruary 8, 2012 Willig, Williams and Davidson Partner Irwin Aronson was interviewed on the Feb. 8, 2012 edition of The Rick Smith Show, “Where Working People Come to Talk.” In this segment, talk show host Rick Smith interviewed Aronson about Gov. Corbett's Budget Message that was delivered to a joint session of the Pennsylvania General Assembly on Feb. 7, 2012. During the interview, Aronson focused on Corbett’s proposed slashes to education funding, particularly to Temple, Penn State and the University of Pittsburgh, along with the 14 campuses of the State System of Higher Education that are slated for yet another round of huge budget cuts ranging from 20-30% on top of the extraordinary cuts imposed upon the state's public universities last year. In the discussion, Aronson noted the fact that in the face of these proposed cuts, along with another round of proposed very significant cuts in Human Services, Gov. Corbett announced yet another round of over $200 million in Pennsylvania business tax cuts. Aronson assailed the failure of Corbett's budget proposal to even address the public transportation and infrastructure funding crisis. He noted that once again, the victims of the economic crisis are being disproportionately compelled by this governor to carry the burden of this destruction of our state government at a time when they need it most.
