Amy Rosenberger Addresses Emerging Issues of Electronic and Social Media and the Workplace at PBI Technology Institute

May 2, 2014

Amy L. Rosenberger, a partner with Willig, Williams & Davidson, a Pennsylvania labor and employment law firm in Philadelphia, will address “Electronic and Social Media and the Workplace: Emerging Issues (Intermediate)” at the Philadelphia Bar Institute’s 2014 Technology Institute on June 11 in Philadelphia. The PBI Technology Institute is a full-day, 6-credit CLE program including ethics and will be simulcast in Allentown, Butler, Mechanicsburg, Norristown, Pittsburgh and Plymouth Meeting, Pa.  To register, go to PBI.org

This session will explore the emerging body of law defining the limits of employee privacy and freedom to communicate about work-related matters through electronic and social media, as well as the legal constraints on employer authority to control such activity inside and outside the workplace. As use of social media becomes ever more prevalent, employees’ perceptions regarding their right to communicate free from employer interference sometimes conflict with employers’ views of their authority to control employee conduct that may impact their public image or disrupt the workplace.

Rosenberger represents labor unions and individual employees before state and federal courts and in arbitrations, negotiations and administrative proceedings. She works with unions representing public service and health care employees, transit workers, public and private school employees and higher education faculty, among others. Bringing to bear nearly 20 years of experience as a labor practitioner, she also counsels and trains employees and union representatives with respect to employment disputes and their legal rights. Her work on behalf of working people includes advocating for their rights, seeking fair contracts at the bargaining table and conveying the skills they require to confidently stand toe-to-toe with employer representatives.

Additional PBI Technology Institute topics include Trial and Litigation Technologies; Jurors’ Response to Technology; Mobility and Cloud Computing; Social Media, Marketing and Ethics; The Paperless Office; Attorney Billing Systems; CRM and Integration; Intellectual Property; Contractual Issues with Online Agreements; and Document Retention and eDiscovery.
