Matthew Slater is a certified specialist in the practice of workers’ compensation law and an experienced litigator zealously representing the interests of injured workers throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He handles workers’ compensation proceedings before administrative judges, the state Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board and the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court.
In addition to handling hearings, depositions and oral arguments on behalf of his clients, Matt counsels injured workers regarding the availability of benefits such as civil service, social security disability, private disability and workers’ compensation benefits. Matt regularly represents Commonwealth and municipal employees and understands the complex interplay between workers’ compensation law and other employment rights, such as health care coverage, pension benefits and public employee protective laws such as Act 534 and the Heart and Lung Act.
Prior to joining Willig, Williams & Davidson, Matt was a contract compliance coordinator for St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. In that capacity he negotiated, drafted and executed agreements pertaining to services, settlements, leases, transfers, physician employment and affiliations. He also assisted regional counsel for the hospital and the hospital’s administration in resolving legal issues.
