Real Estate Law Attorney Kristine Phillips Shares Memories in The Legal Intelligencer's September 11 TributeSeptember 9, 2011 The Legal Intelligencer quoted our partner, Kristine A. Phillips in commeration of the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The Legal asked readers to send in their stories of where they were that day, and how they felt about the tragedies then and how they feel now.
"I was working at a law firm in Cherry Hill, N.J., at the time, while living in Philadelphia. I was driving into work when I heard on the radio that one of the towers had been hit. Not realizing the impact of this event, and probably in a bit of shock, I continued to work. When I got in the office, people had gathered in a conference room to watch TV.
It wasn't until later that I found out that my second cousin, Patricia Kuras, who worked at Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. in the World Trade Center, had died that day. When American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower, their offices composed the entire impact zone between floors 93 and 99. No one who was in the office at that time survived the crash.
