Labor attorney Thomas M. Gribbin, Jr. has been sworn in as deputy mayor of and councilman for Hammonton, New Jersey. Tom was sworn into office by Superior Court Judge Nelson C. Johnson on Jan. 2.

Employment Law Update: Third Circuit Urged to Revive Claims Accusing SEPTA of Mishandling Job Applicants' Criminal Records
The 3rd Circuit will soon decide whether an employer must comply with the plain language of the Fair Credit Reporting Act by providing job applicants with pre-adverse action notices prior to denying them a job based upon their outdated criminal record. Several job applicants, represented by Ryan Allen Hancock filed a class action alleging that SEPTA did not provide them with a pre-adverse action notice prior to denying them a job because of their stale criminal records.

Recently, a young lawyer was contacted by a client with a question. The client was a newly graduated veterinarian who had been approached with a request to euthanize two healthy dogs. The request was pursuant to a provision in the deceased owner's will. The owner had just died and his will provided that his two (perfectly healthy) pet dogs be euthanized, cremated, and buried with him.
