AHCA Update: Immediate Action Needed

As you know from all the press coverage, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Health Care Act (“AHCA”) on May 4, 2017, a proposed replacement to the Affordable Care Act (“ACA”). For the past few weeks, a working group of 13 senators has been working to draft a replacement, but no draft bill has yet been presented.

But, reports just out of Washington hint that the Senate working group may be close to presenting a bill. Unfortunately, the current Senate leadership has determined that this replacement bill should be “fast tracked” and put up for a vote without any committee hearings. And, there are whisperings that this bill might be presented for a vote before July 4, 2017.

No bill that has the possibility of eliminating the health coverage of millions of Americans and affects 1/6th of the American economy should be passed without committee hearings.By contrast, when passing the ACA, there were at least 100 roundtables, walkthroughs and hearings, and amendments from both parties were considered and adopted.

Both your legislators and the public need to know who the winners and losers will be under the new AHCA. Click this link: https://www.senate.gov/senators/contact/ and get in touch with your Senator TODAY!
