The Importance of Obtaining a Name Change in Pennsylvania to Get a REAL ID
Beginning May 7, 2025, Pennsylvania residents must have a REAL ID or another federally accepted form of identification, such as a passport, to board domestic flights or enter secure federal facilities. If your legal name does not match across your birth certificate, Social Security card, and driver’s license, you could face delays or be unable to obtain a REAL ID. We cover the steps to take when applying for REAL ID.
