Willig, Williams & Davidson Partner Irwin W. Aronson Presented at Pennsylvania Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies Conference

Willig, Williams & Davidson Partner Irwin W. Aronson presented “Eviction, Abandonment and Collections Law in Public Housing” to a standing room-only session of the annual conference of the Pennsylvania Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies (PAHRA) in Harrisburg, Pa. on Mar. 6, 2012. The two and a half hour session was the featured program in the annual conference’s legal track for conference participants.

Aronson was joined on the panel by Harrisburg Housing Authority Staff Counsel Catherine Wyatt, Esq. and Cumberland County Housing and Redevelopment Authority Solicitor Trisha D. Naylor, Esq. The session explored the substantive and procedural requirements associated with Pennsylvania landlord / tenant law and its relationship to public housing and related subsidized housing operations. The focus was on assisting non-lawyers in learning and successfully employing factual and legal requirements associated with termination of tenancies for lease violations, abandonments and related collections activities. Aronson has served as General Counsel to the Harrisburg Housing Authority for more than a quarter of a century.  

Resident in Willig, Williams & Davidson’s Harrisburg office, Aronson is a respected appellate advocate concentrating his practice in labor and employment law, employee benefit matters, governmental affairs and legislative drafting and analysis. His extensive experience in litigation and legislative matters ranges from fair labor standards and unemployment compensation, to housing and urban development, to elections and voting rights. Aronson is also a published author and frequent lecturer. Among other institutions, he serves or has served as an instructor for Pennsylvania State University’s Department of Labor Studies and Industrial Relations, the Union Leadership Academy, Pennsylvania State University’s Capitol College (where he was an adjunct faculty member), the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Aronson is also a regular radio show co-host on The Rick Smith Show, “Where Working People Come to Talk.”

The recipient of numerous prestigious awards, the PA lawyer received the Keystone Research Center’s highest honor, the Sol Hoffman Award for Outstanding Service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in 2005. In 2001, he was the only Democratic Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania nominee to receive the Pennsylvania Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Commission’s coveted “Highly Recommended” rating. That same year, the Chester County Labor Council named Aronson “Citizen of the Year.” “Best Lawyers in America” has listed Aronson as a top labor, employment and employee benefit lawyer each year since 1987. Since 1987, Aronson has been recognized as a LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell AV® Peer Review Rated attorney. In 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2011, he was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer® by Thomson Reuters, published annually in Philadelphia magazine
