Willig, Williams & Davidson Adds Michelle Devitt to Team

Michelle Devitt

Former NLRB attorney and workers’ rights advocate will continue to champion legal and policy advances for working people

PHILADELPHIA (July 2022) – Pennsylvania labor, employment and workers’ compensation law firm Willig, Williams & Davidson is pleased to announce that Michelle “Micky” Devitt has joined the firm as an associate in the practice area of labor law.

Devitt has dedicated her career to fighting for the rights of working people and advocating for fair treatment for all. An attorney for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for more than a decade, Devitt also advocated for workers’ rights, voting rights, immigrant rights, and poverty relief legislation for a leading Midwestern nonprofit, the Heartland Workers Center.

“The rights of working people are under assault around the country, which Michelle has seen firsthand,” said Managing Partner Deborah R. Willig. “We are excited to welcome her to our firm, and we know that her experience and her demonstrated commitment to fighting for the rights of workers and their families will be a powerful asset to our clients.”

An attorney for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for more than a decade, Devitt litigated on behalf of the NLRB in its Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Branch in Washington, D.C., successfully helping the NLRB defend and enforce its final orders. She then became a Field Attorney in the NLRB’s field office in Denver, Colorado where she conducted investigations for unfair labor practice cases, participated in successful settlement negotiations with employers and unions, litigated unfair labor practices before administrative judges, and conducted union representation elections. She also represented her colleagues on the Board’s staff union as a Steward, Professional Representative, and then Local 27 Vice President.

She then went on to become the Legal and Policy Coordinator for the nonprofit Heartland Workers Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where she served as the organization’s lobbyist for workers’ rights, voting rights, immigrant rights, and poverty relief legislation. She also provided legal and strategic support to workers organizing for better wages and working conditions.

Immediately prior to joining Willig, Williams & Davidson, Devitt served as an attorney at the Immigrant Legal Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where she provided immigration legal services for immigrant victims of crime, trafficking, and domestic violence. Her advocacy also included lobbying for state policies that impact immigrants’ rights.

“Willig, Williams & Davidson has been a powerful force dedicated to advancing the goals of the labor movement nationwide, and I am honored to join the team,” said Devitt. “I look forward to representing the firm’s union and labor clients as we all work to advance fair treatment for all laborers.”

Devitt received a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Northern Colorado before going on to earn her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
