Willig, Williams & Davidson Attorney to Discuss Collective Bargaining

Date: Nov. 9, 2023

Time: 10 a.m. ET

Details: Labor attorney Michelle “Micky” Devitt will participate in a virtual program entitled “Effective Collective Bargaining Negotiations,” presented by the American Arbitration Association (AAA)-International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). The discussion will focus on practical tips for negotiating to agreement during the collective bargaining process. Devitt will be joined by AAA labor arbitrator Richard C. McNeill Jr. and Obermayer partner Melissa K. Atkins.

Presenters will provide an overview of various aspects of collective bargaining, such as processing a grievance, discussing the settlement of an arbitration case, and attempting to agree upon terms and conditions. The discussion will provide insight into negotiation in all aspects of life.

AAA-ICDR is the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution services in the world. It provides neutrals, advocates, counsel, and other professionals with a wide spectrum of education and training events and resources.

Devitt has deep experience in labor law. As the Legal and Policy Coordinator for Heartland Workers Center in Omaha, Nebraska, she served as the organization’s lobbyist for workers’ rights, voting rights, immigrant rights, and poverty relief legislation. She also provided legal and strategic support to workers organizing for better wages and working conditions in Nebraska. Before that, she served as an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board for more than a decade, conducting investigations for unfair labor practice cases and participating in successful settlement negotiations with employers and unions.
