Willig, Williams & Davidson Partner to Discuss Labor Arbitration

Date: June 16, 2023

Time: 9 a.m. ET

Details: Labor attorney Lauren M. Hoye will participate in a virtual program titled “Perfecting Your Labor Advocacy,” presented by the American Arbitration Association (AAA)-International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). The discussion will focus on the skills labor and management representatives need to present a case to an arbitrator. Hoye will be joined by AAA labor arbitrator Walt De Treux and Cozen O’Connor management representative Daniel Johns, and the program will be facilitated by AAA vice president Ken Egger.

Presenters will discuss best practices, techniques, and various considerations that are essential in preparing an arbitration case. Through discussion and practical exercises, participants will learn how to navigate the grievance process, understand procedural issues at the hearing, present evidence in an arbitration setting, prepare and work with witnesses, and choose between oral and written closing arguments.

AAA-ICDR is the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution services in the world. It provides neutrals, advocates, counsel, and other professionals with a wide spectrum of education and training events and resources.

Hoye advocates for labor unions and individual employees before state and federal courts around the country. She appears on behalf of clients in arbitrations, negotiations, and administrative proceedings before relevant administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board and the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board. Much of her practice is devoted to counseling and training on public and private sector labor law as well as employment law and employment disputes.
