Willig, Williams & Davidson Union Lawyers Land PA Supreme Court Ruling in Favor of Philadelphia Federation of Teachers

In a strongly worded and unanimous opinion, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania delivered another crushing blow to the School Reform Commission’s continued assault on Philadelphia’s teachers and school children.

Ruling in favor of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, the Supreme Court concluded that the SRC possesses no right to cancel its collective bargaining agreement with the PFT – as it sought to do unilaterally in October 2014.

Congratulations to the PFT and its members, and to the many union attorneys at Willig, Williams & Davidson that worked tirelessly to ensure this decisive and historic result – one that will hopefully encourage the SRC to shift the focus of its efforts from careless and costly attacks on the collective bargaining rights of Philadelphia’s teachers, to negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement with the PFT that recognizes its members’ endless commitment to providing high quality education to Philadelphia’s schoolchildren.
