Inspired by labor demonstrations during the COVID-19 pandemic that united people from various backgrounds, Shayla Nguyen is a passionate advocate for working people and unions. She earned her law degree specifically to support workers as they fight for the protections they need and deserve. She stands in solidarity with working families in the face of anti-union forces and is committed to serving as a legal ally against exploitative and unfair working environments.
Before joining the firm, Shayla served as a staff attorney at Service Employees International Union, Local 73, providing advice and representing members in healthcare, public services, and property services in arbitration hearings in Chicago. While a law student, she interned at the National Labor Relations Board, performing research on labor law and supporting litigation. She also became active in organizing, serving as a member of the Young Active Labor Leaders and supporting workers in Texas through strikes and other actions with the United Auto Workers and Teamsters.
Shayla believes in the power of unions to bring people of different identities together to secure just and equal treatment for all. She focuses her legal practice on ensuring workers across all industries receive respect for their immeasurable contributions to society.
