Labor Law Attorney Ralph Teti Quoted on The School District of Philadelphia’s Collective Bargaining Dispute

Willig, Williams & Davidson partner Ralph J. Teti comments on the School District of Philadelphia’s ability to cancel a collective bargaining agreement with its teachers union.

Partner Ralph J. Teti of Willig, Williams & Davidson was quoted in The Legal Intelligencer regarding the School District of Philadelphia’s ability to cancel a collective bargaining agreement with its teachers union.

Arguing for the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, Teti urged the Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices in Harrisburg on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 to think of the implications of a decision allowing the School Reform Commission to cancel the agreement and impose new terms on the district’s teachers.

“If you could make a deal on Monday and they could cancel on Wednesday,” Teti said, it would create a dangerous situation and a concentration of power that would harm the union. Teti noted that the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers is prevented from striking, so collective bargaining is its only opportunity to achieve equitable solutions to any labor disagreements.
