Willig, Williams & Davidson Helps Secure First-Ever Collective Bargaining Agreement for National Women’s Soccer League Players Association

Earlier this year, the National Women’s Soccer League Players Association and the National Women’s Soccer League reached the first collective bargaining agreement in the history of a U.S. women’s professional soccer league. Willig, Williams & Davidson attorneys Deborah Willig, Jessica Caggiano, and Larry Goodman were honored to partner with the Players Association to secure this historic agreement that improves the players’ salaries, free agency, and health and safety provisions.

Off-Duty Conduct in the Remote-Work Era

The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way we do things, as everything from court hearings to happy hours went virtual and many employees were sent to work from home. Now, the lines between personal and work time are blurred, creating sticky questions about employee conduct. Firm attorneys attend the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Dinner

Firm attorneys Ryan Hancock and Stuart Davidson joined Willig, Williams & Davidson client, Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa, at the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Dinner in March in Los Angeles. The event honored James P. Hoffa’s retirement as the head of the 1.4-million-member union. Hoffa is the second-longest serving general president, with 23 years at the helm.

 

Bloomberg Law Covers Amazon Drivers’ $1.47 Million Settlement

Bloomberg Law recently shared the news of a $1.47 million wage settlement in a lawsuit brought by a group of Amazon drivers for Fair Labor Standards Act violations. Our attorney Ryan A. Hancock is one of several attorneys who have advocated on behalf of the drivers.

Law360 Covers Dispute Between Union and Starbucks Distributor

Attorney Joseph Richardson recently was quoted in a Law360 article about a dispute between Teamster Local 710 and Starbucks distributor Quality Custom Distribution over an arbitration award. “There is a substantial amount of money on the table for the bargaining unit employees,” Richardson said. “These are employees who showed up to work and kept the company going during a very difficult time, and they want what they’re entitled to under the contract.”
