Commonwealth employees who work in a correctional institution under the Bureau of Corrections, a State Mental Institution or a Youth Development Center, or the Board of Probation and Parole may be entitled to injured-worker benefits that are far superior to those offered under the Workers’ Compensation law. For example, correctional employees who are injured at the hands of a patient or inmate may be eligible for full wage loss benefits equaling 100% of pay and the continuation of employee benefits for the duration of their absence from work.

Willig, Williams & Davidson’s Workers’ Compensation attorneys are experienced in the representation of injured workers covered by Act 534, and we understand the interplay between that law and the Workers’ Compensation law. We put our experience to work to ensure the protection and enforcement of Act 534 rights for this important group of Commonwealth employees.
