Willig, Williams & Davidson Attorney to Argue Cases at Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Conference

Date: June 1, 2023
Location: Hershey Lodge & Convention Center, Hershey, PA

Details: Workers’ compensation attorney Michael G. Dryden will argue two cases before the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board (WCAB) at the 22nd Annual Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Conference. Attendees at the conference will have the opportunity to observe arguments before the WCAB and question the WCAB commissioners following the arguments.

The conference is presented by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry and features informational sessions with employers, case managers, third-party administrators, defense and claimant counsel, laborers, and other workers’ compensation professionals. Topics at this year’s conference include mediation and settlement in workers’ comp, genetic testing for pharmaceutical effectiveness, payment of medical bills, developing a safety culture in the workplace, and employee mental health and well-being post-injury.

Dryden focuses his practice on securing workers’ compensation benefits for employees when they incur work-related injuries or fall ill to a work-related disease. In the seminal case of City of Philadelphia v. WCAB (Sladek), Dryden argued before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and achieved a favorable decision that will benefit firefighters and their dependents in current and future cancer claims. His earlier work in another case helped to raise evidentiary standards employers must meet when claiming an employee’s known occupational risk for a disease is not the cause of that employee’s illness. His service to clients includes representing them in workers’ compensation and pension matters before the Philadelphia Civil Service Commission.
