Willig, Williams & Davidson Wins Unprecedented Victory in Teamsters Local 710 UPS PVD Arbitration​

In an historic and long-awaited decision, an arbitrator has ruled in favor of Teamsters Local 710 in its protest against UPS’s use of Personal Vehicle Drivers without bargaining over their terms of employment as outlined in its collective bargaining agreement. Firm partner John Bielski serves as lead counsel in the case that stemmed from UPS’s decision in 2017 to begin hiring drivers to deliver packages using their personal vehicles. Local 710 immediately demanded bargaining, but UPS pushed ahead, prompting union members to file hundreds of grievances over the next few years.​

Court Decision Allows Widow to Collect Benefits for Medication-Induced Death of Police Officer Spouse

The widow of a Pennsylvania police officer will be able to collect death benefits after a significant court decision that could make it easier for dependents to seek benefits following a death by suicide. Partner Michael Dryden represents the widow of police officer Raymond Diaz, who died after taking medications prescribed to treat injuries from a work-related motor vehicle accident. An appeals court held that Diaz’s widow is entitled to benefits for survivors of officers killed in performance of their duties.
