Philadelphia Bar Foundation Presents Willig, Williams & Davidson with 2018 Pro Bono Award

November 15, 2018

The Philadelphia Bar Foundation award is one of two presented each year to recognize the legal community’s commitment to advancing equal access to justice

PHILADELPHIA (November 2018) – Willig, Williams & Davidson is proud to announce that the firm has received the Philadelphia Bar Foundation’s 2018 Pro Bono Award in recognition of its dedication to providing pro bono legal services to those in need. The City of Philadelphia Law Department also received the award.

This prestigious honor is one of two bestowed each year by the Philadelphia Bar Foundation to recognize the area legal community’s commitment to advancing equal access to justice. The Philadelphia Bar Foundation Award honors a public interest attorney working in legal aid in the Philadelphia region and is accompanied by a $2,500 prize. The Pro Bono Award recognizes a local law firm or corporate legal department that engages in significant pro bono work and promotes pro bono volunteerism.

Founded in 1979 to advocate for the rights of working men and women and their families, Willig, Williams & Davidson is committed to helping people seek justice, regardless of their ability to pay. The firm encourages each of its three dozen attorneys to give their time and talents to civic, educational, charitable and religious organizations throughout the region. Collectively, they donate more than 300 hours of pro bono service annually to projects and organizations including The Juvenile Law Center, Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program (VIP), Support Center for Child Advocates, Women’s Law Project, and many more.

“We are incredibly proud of this recognition, and thank the Philadelphia Bar Foundation for selecting our firm to receive this prestigious honor,” said Deborah R. Willig, managing partner of Willig, Williams & Davidson. “Lawyers have the ability, the opportunity, and the talent to effect lasting civic change through our justice system, and our firm strongly believes that lawyers should use those talents to achieve equal opportunity and equal justice for all.”

Founded in 1964, the Philadelphia Bar Foundation is dedicated to promoting access to justice for all people, particularly those struggling with poverty, abuse, and discrimination. It provides grants and technical assistance to support the delivery of high-quality legal services, address unmet legal needs and provide education on matters in the public interest. Its programs, services, and partnerships aim to remove barriers to justice, engage the community to support legal aid, and build system-wide capacity.
